This weeks Lecture focused on tips and ideas of how to layout and present our pitch document. Though I had already looked at previous examples of last years Pitch doc's and ones I found online, it was good to get a better understanding of what exactly I should put and where when it comes to designing the document. Some of the things they made me take into consideration were the overall layout, the direction of the reader's eye, and how much information will be needed along with the images, (will they understand what's going on from just a picture). I already have a few ideas that could go well with the theme of my game, the tutors said they are offering one-to-one help for building the pitch doc's next week, I will try to finish my first pitch draft and see what they think about it.
Prototype And Pitch Doc:
With the majority of my blueprints completed, I needed to finish the level layout, and make the final tweaks to the enemy AI blueprints. With the help from tutors, my own research, and opinions from other students I was successfully able to get my AI blueprint to follow the command of: They will follow a patrol path, when an enemy is in sight path, they will chase and attack and do damage to the player if in a certain range. If the player escapes their sight, they will wait a few seconds then return to their patrol path, thus the cycle repeats itself until either the player is out of attack and sight range or they are destroyed.
With all my major blueprint's finished, I moved on to creating the level layout. In my earlier posts I wrote about the idea of an abandoned building in the middle of a jungle serving as the enemy base. with the infinity blades asset pack I was able to get all the materials to show a good example of what I wanted my final level design to look like.
With the pitch document I started with the background of my pages, I decided to go with the idea of a core chest like in Iron man, with armour and wires to make it look busy, but not draw attention away from the main info of the slide. I also began to work on the title, I decided to draw out the letters myself with a steel plating type of text to match the theme.
I also created a punching animation using the free asset's and after a couple of attempts made a successful blueprint that allows the player to punch when they hit the right mouse button.
Next up is a blueprint that allows text to appear on a character when they are within certain range of the player.
